Mealy bugs are the small furry white little bugs that you might see attacking your orchids from time to time. They do not discriminate and will attack pretty much any type of orchid so you should prepare appropriate countermeasures. You might find mealy bugs on bottom sides of the leaves. Mealy bugs also enjoy attacking in the growing apex of the plant and especially enjoy new growth.
BEST SOLUTION FOR MEALY BUGS IN ORCHIDS
For a mild mealy bug infestation, use cotton wool swabs and a very mild liquid detergent to physically remove the live adults that you can see. If that is not enough, then you can also spray the plant with insecticides like Malathium or Dimethoate which are two commonly used orchid bug sprays.
